This is a nice kettle, heats water quickly but doesn't whistle too much (a very low moan only dogs seem to hear) and I'm an older one Person who needs to hear this whistle as a safety reminder. Even if the kettle is boiling and half full or more, your bare hand may be burned by the steam when pouring the water. I have to use an oven mitt or towel for pouring. We recently bought this kettle to replace one that was leaking at the seams after 2 months of use. We were pleased to find that this teapot had no seams. We love the shape, it holds way more water than it looks. The handle can be folded to the side for filling and the opening is wide. The instructions say the valve on the spout needs to be "sealed", but it doesn't fit properly and even after fumbling with it a few times to get it closed, it just wouldn't work.
