Great for STEM and creative projects

The BBC Micro:bit is a simple, affordable, feature-packed computer that's perfect for both creative projects and STEM classes. It comes with an accelerometer/compass (for things like a tilt sensor), a radio (for low-power, short-range communications), a couple of buttons, and an LED matrix. What is particularly good about this device is the simplicity of the user interface and developer community. There are many lesson plans for projects and easy-to-use programming environments to learn fromโ€ฆ

Just buy the Micro:bit Go kit

I did not receive the same package that Revain is currently selling; The one I received is basically the same as the official v1 Go kit with a battery and a longer USB cable. I love the case this one came with. However, when I finally get around to writing this, I now have micro:bit version 2 sitting on my desk, so it's out of date anyway.

  • Quick change
Cons
  • Almost never

Fun and Easy the best computer components

This is a great little computer for learning the basics of software development. I enjoyed programming the compass into this thing and playing around with how accurate I could get it to work (it was pretty much accurate to within 10 degrees). You really don't need more than what is included in the kit. There is an entire website dedicated to Micro:bit. You can also find more code examples and ideas online. If I were teaching kids to program, I would use this. It's simple, but powerful enough to

Elegant microcontroller

Elegant microcontroller. It has a few things that you can program by hooking it up to a computer. It has a compass, LED matrix and microphone. The attached documents are not impressive. Look online for more help.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Almost everything included

BBC Micro Bit, a blast from the past and a blast into the future!

I started programming on the BBC B model. I made things, wrote in EEPROMS, made a database on it and wrote my first commercial software on it (it was sold to a workshop but I paid a lot well, considering my age at the time (14)). Ok, enough selfishness! BBC B was wonderful, very well thought out, no cuts, unlimited possibilities. And it's built with the same mindset. Very thorough base, many possibilities, and while it can get very complex, it can also be kept very simple. With motion sensorโ€ฆ
