Bought these 6.5 kickers based on all the great reviews. I even went to Car Toys to see them in action first. They sounded great in store, but they were overpriced compared to the Revain. They just arrived and after a few hours of use I am very happy with them. I bought two sets for the front and rear door. I'm not sure what project will be next, but I'll stick with Kicker for bass and tweets.

I just installed this on my '77 Ford truck. I can't believe how good they sound for $50! I like some bass and these give it. As another reviewer said, I was also planning on installing a subwoofer, but now I don't think I need it. I paid $110 for a new Pioneer receiver. There is no amplifier. I am very happy with my stereo for less than $175. And I love doing it. I also buy *a lot* on Craigslist. But all speakers were three to four times more expensive and well used.

Generally it doesn't work well under load. This is only good for those who are replacing the stock speakers for the first time and call it good. Something about it being loud doesn't sound right, like echoing bass. Because it's a double set. The smaller ones are sized to fit the front doors of my '99 Civic. When putting it on, the metal panel around the speaker didn't fit at all and didn't have to be shortened.

Great speakers for the price. A great giveaway if you're looking to upgrade your current speakers but not something else like a head unit or amp setup for more power. This is a great upgrade over standard speakers at this price point. I only have one small comment on these speakers - the lip around the woofer is almost half an inch thick. I've been installing them for almost a week. The price is reasonable, especially for an entry-level series. These speakers are a huge upgrade over the stock speakers I had previously so as my car is 20 years old they were worth it. Sounds better than Bose home theater speakers. My Kenwood Excelon x497 drives these speakers to their maximum excursion limit so you don't need an amplifier. I wish I could get all the 6x9s, but I had to put 6.5s in the front doors to fit. The Kicker ds 6x9 is a bit more expensive than the ds 6.5, but the 6x9 sounds better through softer highs, so harsh highs don't cause tinnitus and has deeper bass that can also get louder.
