I have used these for some simple painting projects with my son. The bristles are soft and, in contrast to the hard bristles of similarly expensive brushes, leave nice, clean strokes of colour. No issues with bristles coming out while painting, an issue I've had with other cheap brushes. It's easy to wash the paint off them. I considered buying similar brushes from a craft store - they would cost more and it would be less in the set. This is a great set at a good price.

My wife paints in our family, she is a Bob Ross fan. She was all the happier when she received her new brushes. They are there for when she works with her much larger canvases and murals. She is very pleased with how well she can mix colors with it. Of course you can use them to paint your whole house, just to avoid confusion with other reviews, these are actually artistic brushes. Used exclusively in our wood shop. The colorful bristles proved to be a practical little thing. White bristles for paint, colored bristles for wood stains. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's necessary, but my OCD loves such organizational details. They are strong and have good grips. Traditional shape. These are very soft brushes. They don't hold their shape and contain very little pigment. All of these aren't bad points in and of themselves, but it's important to know what you're getting. I wouldn't recommend these brushes to a beginner looking to get into making quality art, but for those with a bit more knowledge they can be a useful tool. I don't like "feathery" strokes when I paint, so I usually use foam rollers of different sizes. However, brushes should be used for fine details and unusual shapes and sizes. I tested them with the regular latex paint I had on hand with an old piece of smooth wood. They didn't drip, held color well, and were fairly quick and easy to clean.
