Faulty gadget, waste of money.

As my tests showed, this product is completely useless for powering garage lighting. The wiring is confusing and unreliable, leading to inconsistent power output.

Pros
  • None.
Cons
  • Faulty wiring, inconsistent power output.

Will work on a Plymouth 39

I used this converter on a 1939 Plymouth P8 with a 6 volt system. I installed a corded wiper system that requires 12 volts. The wiper system works great, much better than the car's original vacuum system. Couldn't be happier.

Pros
  • weight
Cons
  • old

Bad design. Will not work with light loads up to 2A

This will not power 6VDC light loads of 12VDC. It uses very cheap "old school" analog circuitry. It uses 2 large toroidal coils and a series of electrolytic capacitors. It has no microcircuits or transistors to regulate the output signal. The output voltage drops below 10V when the input voltage is 6V and the load is less than 2A.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Almost never
