I used these when I was fixing a broken plastic laptop that was holding the brass fittings for the hinge screws. I sealed them with epoxy and a day later the laptop was ready to go.

I have several home automation projects that I needed to assemble. So I took a board, drilled a hole and put these inserts in. I could then mount my boards using a standard hex spacer and screw. Works perfectly.

I bought these to mount my Raspberry Pi in a laser cut acrylic box. I used a soldering iron to insert the M2.5 nuts into the 3.75mm holes. It only took a few tries to perfect the technique and the Raspberry Pi is safe.

I used them in a tree as I need something as small as possible although they don't screw in. pull on them. I assume they work fine in plastic, but I've also seen them pulled out of plastic. I would say mainly for ease of use. However, this is a good choice.

They are slightly smaller than other m3 inserts. I had to use them to fix the 3D printer, but they seem to have a smaller OD than what I've used in the past and required. I used m2, m3 and m4. The M2 looked ok but the 2 large sizes were slightly smaller than the smaller size. Otherwise I just used a deeper one than requested.

I really like these, I have 3D printed boxes that I used to thread the threads to twist them together. They offer a much more secure fit and require a lot less force - drill the right size hole, hammer it in with a long screw, either warn it with a heat gun or put some CA glue on it and let it cure and it lasts. I wish I had found her a few months ago!

Don't trust pictures for the right sizes. I created and printed a part based on M3x5mm with a diameter of 5mm. I printed the part and waited for the inserts to be delivered. The diameter is less than 5 mm. The diameter is about 4.07 mm. That's a big enough difference to render the part unusable. Now I print a new part with the correct hole size.
