A cheap alternative that works

Needed cheap DDR2 memory to upgrade an old machine. Since DDR2 is harder to find these days, many vendors are offering very competitive prices for it. Luckily I've had good luck with Komputerbay storage since my last purchase as I was willing to try the thing. She got up immediately, the SPD was read out correctly and I didn't have to make any settings. *Note* This memory is NOT designed for overclocking. Timings aren't great, but if you're looking for top-of-the-line performance, this isn't…

It's hit or miss with these nameless brands.

Install was pretty easy. However, my computer would not start. It went into an infinite loop until I turned it off and pulled out all the ram and replaced it with the original ram from the previous one. Then it loaded well. I ended up trying each stick individually and found one that, while not showing any obvious flaws or damage, was only causing a problem on my motherboard. I cleaned and reseat all the sticks, this time the problem came from having to reinstall my entire operating system. I…

Maintenance of an old drilling rig.

Back in 2007, I decided to give it my all and build a cool $2,500 PC. First Intel quad-core processor at 3.4 GHz, 4 x 1 GB configured DDR2-836 memory on Intel D975XBX2. It was once a top-of-the-line machine that could rival $1,000 processors in benchmarks. Now the processor costs 10 dollars. This old setup still works with a smile, sometimes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It went through 2 power supplies, 3 hard drives and 7 GPUs. 4GB of RAM is pretty good these days - maybe on a phone. I…

Works great for computers and accessories

Recently my SSD on my main computer decided it had done enough reads and writes in its lifetime while also having a few other minor issues, so I sent it in for a replacement. and reinstall Windows 10 and install a better graphics card for a fresh start. So I hooked up my trusty BU computer, it's an Athlon 64X2 5000 with NVidia 8800GTX with a whopping 768MB of VRAM and it didn't boot very well, after cleaning and fiddling around it also needed a new hard drive and I settled on that Doubling its…

Is working. for now. in internal components

Firstly I have never heard of this brand/company. Just installed today, sent, launched windows logo, desktop, downloaded game update (30 minutes), played game and continued playing for over an hour. No crashes. Replaced Kingston RAM. I will never buy a Kingston again. Resurrected old installation: AMD Phenom 9850 BEAsus M3N72-DEvga GTX 660 ti (replaces GTS 250) 8GB Komputerbay 800 Ram (replaces Kingston 8GB 4x2GB 800, any combination of 4GB worked together, just not together for 8GB) So far so…
