Don't buy these chains, especially if you have an SUV.

These chains were a disaster. When used on the slopes, they keep falling off - not desirable. We've tried everything to get it working, to no avail. After long negotiations, the seller agreed to return the money to me. Our SUV has big tires which the seller thought was a problem but I'm not sure - stay away - that's my advice.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Hard to say

Excellent performance and product support

I have used these chains for three years in various conditions. Extremely easy to install. Great traction and very quiet. My car has very limited ground clearance, but I've had no problems installing chains or chains touching the wheel arch or fender. Recently one of the communication contacts failed. Thule immediately replaced the chains without any complaints and free of charge. Excellent product support.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Nothing

Great but late model Subaru Outback needs to be bypassed

I bought these for my 2012 Subaru Outback as I didn't want to buy snow tires and rims. The TPS monitoring system must be recalibrated each time snow tires and wheels are fitted and again when all-season tires are fitted or replaced. They will NOT fit the 2010 and newer Outback as supplied. The years with alloy wheels have 19mm nuts. The Thule 19mm adapter will not fit in the notch around the wheel nut because the notch is too small in diameter. However, repairs are easy and inexpensive…

Great tech but didn't fit my wheels

With the unexpected Ice Week in Seattle I couldn't wait to get it. The chains fit multiple tire sizes with clear instructions for removing 0-4 clips for each size (all four for my 225/50-R17). They are just as easy to turn on and off as shown in this video ([.] No need to get wet knees or lie down on the ground. The chains only ride on the tread and not the back of the wheel/tire , no internal clearance required. Thin cable chains only increase top clearance by approximately 10mm. Aggressive…

Easy on & Easy off in tires and wheels

I have a K-Summit XL55 kit for my 2015 Toyota Sienna Limited with 235/55-18 tires (also fits SE 235/50-19). Must use these last weekend at 30 mile Tahoe Mtns. In my case (3) yellow links on each page had to be removed. It's easiest to use your own 3mm hex (I have a T-bar) and 7mm socket instead of the tools provided to remove the extra links. I used a 21mm eyelet and a smaller red spacer with the appropriate bolt size. You should test them on your tires on a dry road before you do it on snow…
