This is my fourth rear shock replacement.

This is my 4th replacement of the rear shock absorber on my Mazda5. This one is a guard. Had to wait a bit for delivery, but dude! Doesn't matter. The car feels a lot safer on the road and far fewer kids get fed up with the car.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Get Over Stock Shocks

They mount straight up. Get the trunk and the bumper. I didn't know they were as old as the shock absorbers. Get a mount as the replacement comes with large mounting nuts. They seem responsive and very affordable, let's see how long they last.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Compatibility

Aftermarket replacement of OEM shock absorbers on a 2009 Mazda5.

Easy to install on my Mazda5. The strut mounting nuts are different from the original nuts, so make sure you have 12mm and 13mm deep bushings on hand when replacing OEM shock absorbers. OEM shocks are very short lived so I like trying them out in the aftermarket.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • The list will be long.

BUT: Spares

I've been repairing cars for 31 years and it seems like quite a shock but after replacing it (February 2020) I realized it doesn't last long. It is now June and the car is mainly driven on the motorway and one of the shock absorbers has started making noise and seems to be weak. It seems that life on them is short, be careful when you decide to order.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Appearance

Good value and upgrade to stock shocks

Installation was easy except that a remote nut had to be used. The upper shock absorber mounting bolts were destroyed. Also replaced the bracket and cover for peace of mind. Installed on Mazda 5 2010. That is one inch higher than stock shocks. Better ride quality and stiffer than the original.

Pros
  • Provides up to 25% better damping performance than stock shocks
Cons
  • The Secret

Good fit for 2012 Mazda5

Ordered 2x shock absorbers to replace the stock rear shock absorbers on a 2012 Mazda5 with 93,000 miles. Items arrived safely and undamaged in their original packaging. Installation is easy: you need to remove the bottom screw and two small top mounting screws. In my case, the fasteners were not damaged, although it is quite common for fasteners to break. The real performance boost is probably felt most in the much lighter Mazda3. But the ride on the Mazda5 is noticeably more controllable…

Pros
  • High gas pressure design provides instant extra control
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Fits Mazda 5 for shocks, struts and suspension

Good replacement for stock shocks in a 2007 Mazda 5. It doesn't seem like the ride quality differs from the OEM's. Very easy to install. I recommend getting the "KYB SM5619 - Shock Mount" (or equivalent mount for your car) at the same time as my shocks looked pretty broken when I took them off. I had a worn shock absorber when I replaced the rear pair, but - in addition to fixing the freeway skid issues - the worn shock absorbers - I was hoping that the new shock absorbers would fix or dampen…

Pros
  • Mono tube design outperforms all other stock shocks
Cons
  • Wrinkled packaging
