I really love this thing! It slices carrots very thin and is great for making salads. It's easy to clean and you can use it for a variety of purposes. Seems strong enough to last a long time.

Sorry, I've already bought it. Should have read the reviews more carefully. It arrived today and I found that you can't adjust the thickness. Buy one that allows you to adjust the thickness. Worth the extra money. I bought this because I saw a recommendation in Better Homes and Gardens. ERRORS!

This is the non adjustable thickness version and it produces very thin slices good for things like paper thin slices of garlic cloves etc. I recommend the red model over the black because the red version gets you more work done before you realize you're bleeding profusely from your fingertip or knuckle.

This is a great addition if you don't want to break your full size adjustable mandolin. I chopped 15 cloves of garlic in under two minutes and then tossed the slicer in the dishwasher. Much easier to use and clean than a regular mandolin. A shield was useless for this task so I used a cut resistant glove which is a must.

It just works and works well. While not thin, it's very thin, ideal for fruit and hard cheeses like parmesan and thinly sliced onions, perfect for burgers. Haven't used the holder yet, I've put some cut resistant gloves in it, but for the most part I'm just being cautious. For some reason this is my favorite way to eat pears, I just chop them up and put them in a bowl and they're like raw chips lol

Beautiful mandolin. This is my first mandolin purchase and I was very scared of accidentally cutting myself, but once I started using it I wasn't scared anymore. The plastic coating that covers everything that's being cut sits firmly in place, so your hand never comes in contact with the blade. Cleaning was easy and there were no stains on my beets. I use this fruit and vegetable slicer and love how the slices are so thin and even. The only thing that doesn't bother me is the plastic guard that covers the blade when not in use because it doesn't stay in place. I believe it's also designed to hold food in place while slicing, but that just doesn't happen. Get a food slicer if you want an easy way to cut your food, but ditch the plastic thing like I did. Just be careful not to get your fingers too close to the blade.
