Bought this set several times but the last one was poorly made. The bottom of the intake valves is not flat, which makes valve lapping very difficult. You got what you paid for.

Installation went smoothly. I used valve lapping paste and a valve retainer tool to make sure it was flush and put a marker on each valve to make sure it goes back to the same valve. I used the valve compressor tool to install the valve lock bits and got off to a good start. Well sat in the holes.

Installed on a VW with a bent valve and replaced all 16, a few first runs and all is good. drove it down the freeway at about 50 mph and the valve exploded right into the cylinder, bouncing like a quarter in the chamber and wrecking my piston. Learn your lesson, pay full price for OEM internals. it's not that cheap. I've now lost money on a complete overhaul, basically the whole car.

I've bought these valves a few times and they've been great. But this order was received in exchange for an incomplete set. This set came across very badly. Valve lapping time has increased from a minute or two per valve to 8-10 minutes per valve when using a machine. Therefore, if you do the lapping by hand, you can count on a long and tedious job. But even with the extra effort, the product is worth its price.

So far so good! I rebuilt the cylinder head in the machine shop. I installed these valves. I drove about 2000 km after the repair, the car drives perfectly. Don't be fooled by expensive valves. Valves are mostly valves. As long as the specs, dimensions, and metallurgy are within reasonable tolerances, you're good to go. I wouldn't hesitate to reinstall them if I had another catastrophic failure. However, if I had the timing error again, I'd probably be more inclined to stick a rag in the gas…
