Enhanced Performance: Lake Country 5 Inch Dual-Action Backing Plate with Hook-and-Loop Fastener and Inner Steel Construction Review

I converted my 6" DA Harbor Polisher to this 3" base plate. The strength of the plate is excellent. Possesses optimum flexibility and rigidity. I can say that this is a very high quality product. For those who don't know. Some backing plates have normal velcro instead of micro velcro. This base plate has micro velcro. This is one of the reasons this record doesn't ruin the pads like other records do.

Five stars for this little guy. Use it for buffing and buffing headlights and it works crisp! Using a special Harbor Freight polishing paste, I put a few drops on a 3 inch foam pad and rub it in. Before turning it on, I apply the pad to the headlight. Turn the setting to 2 and spread the composition evenly over the surface. After that, increase it to 4 or 5 and continue polishing and make that sucker nice and clean to make it shine without scratches.

My original Porter Cable baseplate finally fell apart after 14 years. These Lake County skid plates are a favorite among detailers, so I gave it a try. I ordered this for my husband to use with his Harbor Freight DA polisher. He read some other reviews about how straightforward (no hesitation) it was compared to a standard HF pad and we must have gotten a bad pad. I bought 2 of these and they are exactly as pictured. I paired this baseplate with a Porter-Cable 7424XP DA Polisher and Chemical 5.5" pads that come in a 3-pack with orange, white, and black pads and pad cleaner. The bottom plate did exactly what it was supposed to, it held the pads flawlessly and I had no problems.
