The stone itself is very good. Flat and even, very fine grit as indicated. I used it to create the finishing touch after the "thin diamond" and the resulting edge easily shaved the hairs off the back of my hand. 3 stars instead of 5 because the stone came loose from the holder on the 4th use. There was no glue left on the stone and very little on the plastic. I re-glued the stone with epoxy but was upset that I had to do this after 2 months of ownership.

This rock is not the sand described! I bought Super Sapphire to use between my yellow 1000 grit ultra fine and leather belt. When used after yellow, it removes shine and makes the surface duller. You can even feel the metal being sanded, while the 1000 grit feels smooth with use. Super Sapphire grit ranges from Yellow 100 to Blue Fine Hone 600. The product was received on time although, like others, the real stone fell off the plastic part. Luckily for me, a little bit of contact cement keeps it firmly in place. It's something that shouldn't have happened, but it happened and I didn't want to bring it back. Lansky should have named this Super Craptastulastic Fail Rock Supreme. It's not flat. It is convex on the honed side and concave on the side glued to the plastic guide. How should I know because the glue didn't match when the stone was first used. The stone just fell off. As others have said, be careful. Mine came with a slightly concave stone. It's still usable and while it doesn't give me that nice polished look, there are still very sharp edges. At least I can shave the hair off my arm with the edge it creates. All other stones I have in this set are flat.
