Mercury test level not accurate?

I bought a drinking water test kit and a heavy metal test kit. Tried everything in my drinking water at home and was surprised by the mercury test. The result of the mercury test is brown, which is 1 or 2 levels above the maximum limit. Since I received 2 mercury test strips, I tried the last strip and changed the water sample and now it shows yellow, a good indicator, below the limit. With this result I become unsure if the test is accurate or not. I will try again by buying a new one. I will…

The hue at 0ppm was pale gold and the next shade at 0.002ppm was VERY minimally darker. Unfortunately, this first stage would bring mercury levels into the maximum USEPA drinking water exposure. That's a problem, there's no room for error. The copper test was more forgiving. The color change was more obvious when you hit

Failed to replace inconclusive lead test

The line test was inconclusive based on the manual so I emailed customer service because the manual said they would replace the test if that was the case. Initially, the support rep was quite responsive and emailed me an updated manual, which I found odd as I had only ordered the product a week earlier. He said my result was actually positive, but I didn't test properly because I didn't run the water long enough beforehand to clear my lines, which the instructions didn't say. Because of this, I
