Perfect for one of my 5 gallons.

Took five seconds to install. Fits perfectly as shown in the photo in 5 gallons. I'd probably run two on my 20 gallons if I did, but for one of my 5 gallons it works fine and fits perfectly in the corner and doesn't look too big and obtrusive.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

MAX 1-5 gallons on a small sponge! He's tiny.

I ordered a 5-10 gallon small sponge for my 5 gallon feeder. I use it in combination with a back strap to keep the water clear. I'm impressed with the price and build quality to be honest, but as they say it's not rated for more than 5 gallons. This thing is small, and I mean very small. Ideal for only 1-5 gallons. My guess is that if you add along with a hanging rear filter, both can handle 10 gallons, maybe more, but it all depends on your bioburden.

  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Your product can only "appear " to work

Unless you plan to modify the filter with an airstone, I recommend using the filter without a sponge to ensure it is working properly. Make sure air is ACTUALLY pushed into the bottom of the filter to create a vacuum. All the air came out at the junction of the down pipe and the top of the filter. I worry that many people use faulty equipment (or this product just doesn't work without modification) without realizing it because it still creates bubbles. Medium if you want to run this thing…

One of the best filters. After 50 cents and a bit of work

Update 07/25/2020 So on a whim I decided to give this filter a different look by modifying it with a bubble stone. Not only are the results incredible, but when combined with the 1" Airstone from the Imagitarium Bubbling Column Airstone 4-Pack: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074W91QSW/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_t1_panhFbKDYGZKE this is an incredible little sponge filter. The best part is that it's one of the easiest mods you'll ever make as the small air stone fits snugly onto the sponge filter All you…
