It's all a matter of preference

As a die-hard Arches user, I can't sell any other watercolor papers. But I have to say that this is definitely my second favorite paper and it actually has several advantages over Arches. Legion Stonehenge Aqua Cold Pressed is a SUPER bright white paper that really makes the colors pop. It's even whiter than the bright white version of the Arches. The Legion also has a smoother finish than the Arches, which some see as an advantage. However, I REALLY believe that quality watercolor paper is all

Pros

  • Unreliable

Very nice watercolor paper!

For the last 8 years I have dabbled in watercolor painting using the cheapest and most expensive paper. No problem with gluing or…

Great surface for painting, bad for covering

I really like drawing on this paper. It absorbs a lot of water, stays dry and has just the right texture which I like. Then I peeled off the masking tape and covered a whole layer of paper with it. This is artist tape, the same one I used for my other watercolor paper, which is a (relatively) cheap pad from BLICK. Before sticking, I re-tacked the tape to the jeans multiple times to keep it from being so sticky, I used a hair dryer to peel it off, but it still pulled out a whole layer of paper…

Pros
  • Handmade specifically for watercolor painters, this durable and textured backing is the latest in craft paper creation
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
