That goes for true 8 " speakers

Most "8" speakers are labeled as 8" cones, but that doesn't mean the case will be either. This item is suitable for JBL SP8CII 8 inch speaker. This means the cutout of the actual hole is 240mm (9-1/2 inches) wide.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Cheap, affordable and seems to work well

I needed a set of ceiling speakers for a new house. They were inexpensive, the right size (9.5 inch bore), and readily available.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Minor issues

Works with Polk MC85

I bought these because a previous review said they would work with Polk RC85. They also pair perfectly with the MC85 and are about half the price of the Polk. I'm not sure if they are necessary, but the drywallers cut them out and I didn't have to.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Not all will fit

Great in-ceiling speaker design template

Allowed us to cut holes in the ceiling on some Polk MC80s rather than having to deal with them after completion. They are strong enough to stay in place during rough installation. To clarify, they are not intended to support anything. This is just a permanent template for the ceiling speaker hole hanging on the drywall. The only extra support they offer is plastic across the top to spread the speaker's weight off the screw terminals.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

It turned out great but the metal is thin so be careful.

Fulfills its purpose. Perfect fit for my 8" Goldwood CS-IC83 speakers that I bought from Revain. Some reviews mention that they are thin. They are not intended to provide structural support - they are just there to let the drywaller know where he needs to cut the speaker holes. I ended up accidentally breaking a few pieces off so I just screwed the short end next to a ceiling beam and used the other undamaged end to make up the difference. This worked so well that I purposely cut a side of each

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Nothing here

Works perfectly when used as intended!

I felt compelled to write this review after reading all the other reviews of how 'unreliable' it is. This bracket is primarily intended for new build as a pre-planning method when drywall needs to cut a hole. I recently used 4 of these in a new build home and they couldn't be easier to use. After the tubing is framed but before the insulation or drywall is applied, attach it to the ceiling where you plan to place the speakers. This is also where you would normally route the speaker wire and…

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • Repair

They do a great job - beware of bad reviews

I read many conflicting reviews and didn't want to buy them but ended up buying a few and they were a good choice. So it's basically two pieces: a solid piece of plastic with an eyelet for a hole in the drywall, and a second piece made up of two thin, thin pieces of metal that snap into the plastic and have holes for you to attach them to Bolts or ceiling joists. You line up the hole where the speaker will ultimately be mounted, nail or screw the fins to the wood, and you're done. This creates…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
