Description of ๐Ÿชš LENOX Tools METALMAX 4-Inch Diamond Edge Cut Off Wheel for Precise Metal Cutting (1972920)

Delivers 1,000 or more cuts without changing the wheel. Advanced diamond technology provides 30X longer life than thin bonded cutoff wheels in metal cutting applications* *Average performance in 1โ€ carbon steel square tube vs. thin bonded abrasive cutoff wheels. Solid steel wheel body greatly reduces risk of breakage for added safety, increased productivity, reduced downtime, and a lower cost per cut compared to thin bonded cutoff wheels. Maintains original wheel diameter throughout the life of the blade for better control, reach, and precision. Does not wear down like bonded abrasives reducing dust particles for a cleaner work station.

No problem with rebar - grinding and finishing materials

I broke one of those rebar with poor engineering. On the second round I clamped one rebar on each side of the cut, and it worked great for 45 cuts of 1/2"10' rebar; the blade ended up in very good shape.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Not impressed! suitable for grinding and finishing materials

Not impressed. Very low cutting speed. The cut tends to move much more easily than traditional grinding wheels. Maybe it's ok for sheet metal, I haven't tried it yet, but cutting 3/16" sheet steel to make hanging brackets was very frustrating.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Upgradable

Everything they claimed

Saved me at least $70 on cutting discs for a sixth of the price, I suspect they would have lasted much longer if I hadn't used them to cut very thick ones Nails instead of heads which is what I usually use it for. The needles say I will buy them regularly.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

When I was a working plumber I would give my eye teeth for these blades!

When I was a plumber I would give my eyes for this along with the 3 inch version I have on my grinder! Now that I'm retired it's still pretty cool. quickly cuts cast iron pipe and old radial tires and ZIPS through everything else I've tried: plastic, rubber, aluminum, steel, glass, etc. It has already paid for itself many times over in just a few weeks. & hand guards AND CONSIDER where dirt and possible chips can get in... and make sure YOU ARE NOT THERE. Probably not a tool for the clumsy orโ€ฆ

Not 1000 cuts, more like 30+, though rebar

We used this disc on a grinder to cut 5/8 inch rebar. The disc wears out after about 30 cuts. It also cuts steel more slowly than fine grinding wheels, which cost $3-4 each. These discs go through the steel reinforcement much faster because they remove much less material. Yes, sanding sheets cut less, probably about 10 rebar, and yes, a diamond blade probably won't break, as thin sanding sheets are much more likely to break on you and get smaller with each cut (confused with concrete cuttingโ€ฆ
