Tray latch failure is the best among optical drives

I want to give this product 5 stars because in addition to its clean, minimalist appearance, it does a great job of maintaining the quality of LG electronic features is pleasing to the eye, except that after about a year and a half the tray will no longer close and thus become unusable. Everything else about it turns on and still seems fine. I don't know how the internal locking mechanism works, so I can't tell what's wrong. I'm very easy on my equipment. That means: I don't press any buttons…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Better than Apple external DVD drive

I tried an external Apple DVD player and didn't like it. As an Apple fanatic, it's very rare that I don't like one of their products, but I've burned myself on two iMacs from the boot and eject slot malfunctions. The external LG has manual tray loading that seems much less likely to fail. This is a very lightweight and portable external drive. So far I've only used it to watch and copy DVDs to my Mac Book Air, but it's worked great every time. Very important. I suggest keeping the box and foam…

Pros
  • Slim design. Video memory requirements: 64MB or more (128MB recommended)
Cons
  • Crumpled
