Good for workshop use

Flashes occasionally when TIG welding. Kind of leaves me hanging. But a very clear lens. Not recommended for field work.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

It's almost twice as thick as my ArcOne lens

I work as a MIG welder on a shop floor and it fits me very well. I wanted a darker lens (13 shades) but wanted to be able to switch to a lighter shade if needed. The only problem is that it's almost twice as thick as my ArcOne lens. It fit into my fiberglass metal tube case with plastic protections front and back and didn't have room for anything else like a rogue lens.

Pros
  • Test for a year
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Works great for security

I've had four different 2x4 Self Dimming (SDL) lenses and this is definitely the best. This is Lincoln's first SDL. I bought Amazon guarantee offers. It's quite expensive and seems like good insurance as the other four lenses only lasted about a year before starting to fail. I've only used it for TIG welding so far and it works great with filter on speed and on (no flash) and dimming. I charged it for about an hour in sunny AZ and it was ready to go. Be sure to use clear lenses inside and out.

PPE worth every penny

Does this guy walk in an outlaw leather hood. I had to make a small modification to make it fit, but it's neither here nor there, so in the review. After adjusting the controls so everything was set the way I liked it, I popped in the 4g 7018. Clean, crystal clear. I had to stop welding to make sure it got really dark. After I was done, I ran TIG to see how she was handling it. The same, perfectly clear. I won't say it made my welds that much better, but it was definitely easier to control theโ€ฆ

The best lens I've ever used, automatic or fixed

By far the sharpest lens I've ever used. Suitable for in-line bodies without body modifications. With a fibermetal tiger hood (fold up) you will need to open the slot slightly with a flat file, dremel or burr, but you can still add a protective lens on each side after that. This lens is sharper, has better color and more adjustment options than any Speedglas product I've used over the years. Also blows out Wen's Ultra Cool Blue lenses for about $20 less. Also, a few words about the color, itโ€ฆ

Big disappointment

I bought this because my tint 10 for Flux Core wasn't dark enough. It's a little darker and worked for a few welds, but I wouldn't want to use it for the entire shift. I would say it hits around 11.5. It was definitely lighter than the passive shade 12 that I ended up buying. Also, it doesn't work for TIG at all. It turns on and off randomly regardless of the settings. I even tried keeping my hand still for a few seconds to see if it was just the sensor jamming during movement and it stillโ€ฆ

Amazing product

Amazing lens from a great company. This allowed me to see what I was doing much more clearly, which greatly and quickly improved my ability to learn to weld at school. I put the hood back on my car and leaned against the back seat headrest so it always gets the sun and didn't have battery issues when I was using it about 10 hours a day, 4-5 days a week. Changing the battery is very cheap if you ever need to replace it, and best of all, Lincoln keeps their word on the 2 year warranty! My secondโ€ฆ

Lincoln maybe better than Singles 240 HD

UPDATE: This lens is much brighter around the lens perimeter. Turning your head a little makes you feel like a safe 8 or 9 when you're on 11. The hue numbers seem a little off. 11 is more like 12 and so on. That's clearer than 240 HD singles. Both are amazingly clear and it's like looking at the arc as if the weld isn't very bright and you're looking at it with the naked eye. However, for me that is the difference between sunglasses and polarized sunglasses. Regular sunglasses allow you to seeโ€ฆ
