Great simple little solution

We've had internet outages for the past few weeks. Sometimes our modem lost signal for a few seconds, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a few hours. The information the modem gave us in the error log seemed to confirm what we were experiencing, a random intermittent loss of signal. A little research in the error logs yielded some results that prompted me to call in a technician to replace the line from the telephone pole to my modem; Some search results advised me to check incoming…

excellent signals on satellite TVs

using comcast internet and cable tv the technician installed an attenuator and said my signal was too hot but the attenuator installed reduced my SNR to 33, which was still considered good. but also had distorted espn 2, nfl network and nbcsn channels. with netgear cm 1000 modem and xr500 router and bds102h bidirectional splitter. After researching and reading good reviews about this attenuator, I gave it a try and it works great. Got 2 of these, one on the back of my modem and the other on the

Great little device that Cox is unaware of

These little devices are amazing. After the two techs came out they said everything was within spec but I was having insanely large packet losses and unrecoverable errors. My power levels were 10-16, which is technically within spec but still very hot and on the higher end of the spectrum. Flats on the downstream where 35-38 so these were good. almost completely gone. Now I can play bf:v much more stable. It's almost smooth. Maybe I'll get a packet loss warning for a few seconds in two hours…

6dB forward attenuator, fixed timeouts and cable modem restarts

Example: Cable modem uplink issues fixed, low cost, no outlet/power supply. Dislikes: Don't know why it works so well. ** So: before I got this little helper, I thought about buying a return path amplifier like the $40 Antronix RRA1-10 (had used it before for the same problem). The problem was that all performance levels were still in the "should still work" range, eg 0dB downlinks, 45-50dB uplinks, SNR over 30dB, but the internet connection dropped daily. I had a 6 year old (4x8) cable modem…

Great little device Cox knows nothing about

These little devices are amazing. I have two -12 total and they are paired with Arris SB6183. After the two techs came out they said everything was within spec but I was having insanely bad packet loss and unrecoverable errors. My power levels were 10-16, which is technically within specs, but still very hot and on the higher end of the spectrum. My downstream SNR values are around 35-38, so it's good there. After installing two of them following the advice on the dslreports forum, my power…
