should have brought this back. I managed to get it to "work", but couldn't get it to support anything higher than my default 5GHz 802.11 standard. When I try to connect it to only 802.11ac, which my router supports, I get less speed from that device than I do from my internal broadband adapter in my laptop. I've gone through 40 configurations between the router and this adapter and I couldn't get this adapter to do more than my laptop, nor could I get this adapter to stay connected the whole…

Great when it works

Updated: see below Super fast near top speed when it works But it doesn't always work. (Problems with Windows 10 Insider builds). I understand this is a driver issue. And I'm really sad about that because when it works, it's one of the best wireless adapters I've ever used. Note on Linksys: compatible with and written for are two different things! We need authentically written drivers for Win 10! I was able to block the installation of an updated Microsoft driver from the device panel and roll…

Slow internet is good for USB network adapters

I have a Dell XPS laptop that is 13 years old. Wow that's old, didn't realize until I looked at it. In any case, internet browser speed was slow and clunky. Tried different browsers - to no avail. The original Intel internet adapter in this laptop only runs at 2.4 GHz and is not compatible with AC 1200. So I figured instead of buying a new laptop, I first spent $40 and tried this Linksys AC1200 Wireless Dual Band USB 3.0 Adapter The reason I chose this one is because I have a Linksys router (I…

Not bad but often overheated and died after 6 months

Bought this product at the end of September. I don't remember the installation process at all, which is probably a positive as I would remember it if it were too complicated. It delivered much faster speeds than my previous adapter and seemed like a solid product for the price. However, I quickly realized that the adapter would overheat and the performance would suffer greatly. I would have to remove the adapter and let it cool for a few minutes before plugging it back in. This is obviously not

Works great, small and easy to use.

I had a lot of problems with this adapter after a few months of use, but after reading a review of another WiFi adapter I found a solution to the problems I seemed to be having would have. . I haven't had any problems since following the steps I will list at the end of the review. The problem I had was that I would lose my Wi-Fi connection at least once a day and sometimes multiple times a day. I would have to unplug the adapter and wait a minute or two and then plug it back in for it to work…

Don't waste your time, find something better.

This USB WiFi adapter is one of the worst I've ever used. problem) After getting my adapter, I installed the drivers that came with it, plugged in the adapter and everything seemed to work fine. However, I lost connection for several hours and Windows couldn't detect that I had an available wireless adapter. I was able to fix it with a reboot. Then an hour later it happened again. A restart solved the problem, but after a few minutes it reappeared. I ended up uninstalling the drivers and then…
