Linksys sucks bilgewater, but AMAZON is great.

Bought from Revain at a great price. But I only had a 30 day return window. There were serious problems with the USB port. It does not work with the mHP USB printer nor with my TOSHIBA hard drive. I spent 2 hours with Linksys support but they couldn't get it to work but gave me a full year warranty/support. Good. But after 35 days the SSID just disappeared from all my devices. just left So rebooting and updating the router no luck. Tried the modem too, but it didn't work. CC named Linksys. Your

Addendum to the review - Check performance immediately upon purchase. See below for results or two more today. Two had power supplies that weren't powerful enough to make them work at this point. They require 12v 2 amps, they were supplied 12v 0.5 amps!09/03 - Worked today on the last two of five from an order a few months ago. One had a power adapter that didn't work for that router, 6v output, the router required 12v, it lit up but didn't work as its ports were turning on and off etc. Theโ€ฆ

The best router for the price!

I love the router, especially considering I paid $35 for a refurbished router! My need: I only have Linksys because the company behind it (CISCO) offers the highest quality routers. Hardware. I needed a router that would cover the second level of our home. As your primary router: Setting up your router would normally be a breeze if you are using it as your primary router (DHCP server). All you have to do is insert the CD into a computer that is on the same network as the router and it will setโ€ฆ

So Far So Good - Networking Products

I had an E1500, 2 E2500 and just bought one of these. By and large, consumer routers, even the most expensive ones, are junk. I would never use a consumer router (including this one) for mission-critical tasks, but as far as consumer routers go, the Linksys E-Series has been pretty reliable. One of my E2500's has failed but all the others have been working great for years. It has a vastly improved web interface over the E2500, but overall it's very similar. I've done some testing on this EA3500

Pros
  • Confident

  • Unbelievable Price

$35 Fast Simultaneous Dual Band Gigabit WiFi Router

I bought this as a backup for my current 300Mbps dual band WiFi router which is starting to to go crazy. I'd rather have a backup after testing that it works well as a replacement for my current router rather than buying a new one if the current one dies and my network downtime suffers while I check out the new one. .All I need is to connect it at the maximum speed of the protocols my devices use: 802.11n, g, a, using both bands at the same time. Everything else is the icing on the cakeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good value

  • Not bad but...

The EA3500 is great when not dropping devices (see below)

The EA3500 is a reliable router when left connected (see below) and handles Comcast download and 10Mbps upload speeds very well. The 5GHz connection is pretty weak and really needs to be used within 20-30 feet. The 2.4 GHz connection is slightly stronger than the Linksys E1200 and much stronger than the Linksys E1000. Where the EA3500 differs from the E1XXX level routers is in signal attenuation. A 50 Mbps connection at 50 feet is still 36-38 Mbps, sometimes 40-42 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. Itโ€ฆ
