Special tool that gets the job done

I ordered this head when I was replacing the oil pressure sensor on my 2008 Chevy 6.0. It went perfectly with both the old and new sensors and made the job a little easier. Rather than using a regular 1 1/16 socket and risking tearing the new sensor's plastic, this socket will hold it securely so as not to damage the plastic. You can only use it once, but it's good to make sure you're using the right tool for the job. Instead of using any outlet and finding that after installing the sensor youโ€ฆ

Rescuer. Just buy it when you change the sensor

Changing it hurts because you can't see what you're doing. Don't forget to buy an outlet for it. YouTube how to remove the cable clamp and connector. I removed 1 breather tube on the rear valve cover. It's a quick clip so it's easy to release. It used a custom 3/8" drive swingarm that attached directly to the bushing. Then I used a 5" extension and a regular ratchet. A flex head ratchet would have been nice, but removing 1 bleed line made a regular ratchet work. There was also a tiny screenโ€ฆ

Cons
  • boring packaging

This head was designed specifically for the 1 1/16" oil pumps that GM and some other manufacturers have been using for years. Corners rather than sharp corners like a typical nut or bolt. I've seen transmitters that have been damaged with a conventional head although this can be successfully done in most cases It also has thinner walls than most conventional heads which is a must when replacing the transmission block on GM 5.3 liter engines It was in a hard to reach place so I didn't want toโ€ฆ

Does the job at a reasonable price

Ok someone else posted the difference between this and what is sold in AutoZone. I was there today for something else and checked it out. Model AZ is larger and requires a 1/2" socket wrench and an extension. As tight as it was, it would make it almost impossible. Napa has the same outlet but twice the price. I would say that using a 27mm hex head can be helpful but you will be paying for that extra hassle and time. It holds the oil sensor so you can remove and reinstall it. I would highlyโ€ฆ

A must for work!

Replaced the oil pressure sensor on a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer with a 5.3. The manuals and my shop indicated that the intake manifold had to be removed to replace the switch. (About $800 plus) My Tube videos suggested that you remove fuel lines, vacuum lines, and a variety of other things instead of doing this job. Neither was the case in this particular application. Maybe with others. I could see my flashlight switch and could reach out and touch it. I recommend you try this. Many reviews ravedโ€ฆ
