Description of LMT Onsrud 63-701 Uncoated CNC Router Bit - Optimal Diameter

Solid carbide tools offer long tool life and faster cutting speeds than other substrates, but are more brittle and must be used with rigid toolholding systems. Uncoated tools feature just the base substrate without any additional treatment or coatings and are suitable for a wide range of applications. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. Single flute, 21 degree angle

Great bit, the price fluctuates more than the stock market

In my opinion simply the best cutter for cutting acrylic glass. I've tried others and had chips, bird's nests and rough edges. This bit, when run at 15,000 rpm and 80 ipm on my CNC router, gives me peace of mind that I can walk away and eat that sandwich until the cut is done. It leaves what I call anthills of small chips around the cut lines, and when the cut is finished I don't feel any heat build-up. The only complaint I have is that I bought one for $20 with change and a week later when I…

Really cool for polycarbonate!

When it comes to cutting plastic, no other milling cutter can compete. Proper chip size is essential for quality cutting, and this attachment is ideal for hard plastics like polycarbonate (a relatively 'soft' material). With a single cutting edge, this bit takes big bites to keep heat down, then effortlessly ejects those shavings for a quick but clean cut through polycarbonate and other hard plastics. Note that this attachment ejects the shavings up (ie (<1/4") to lift them while cutting…

Expensive. But the price is worth it

I have tried several inexpensive .0625" carbide end mills to cut .25", .125" and .050" thick ABS sheet, and it was a clear winner by a wide margin. It cuts faster with a .13" deep plunge cut at 45 ipm and 18,000 rpm. I can probably push it faster. The chips are slightly larger and fully formed as opposed to fine ones Chips at each feed rate with other bits There is no noticeable heating of the bit so heat appears to be dissipated to the chips Even at full speed there is very little bit…
