Great wok! -- See photo

The wok is simply fantastic. It's made by Lodge in America and they did a great job with the casting. The wok was pre-seasoned as advertised. We couldn't see any flaws and the inner surface was smooth. The wok is heavy and has a flat bottom so it doesn't move over the stove while cooking. This makes them safer than other pans in our opinion. As everyone said, it's round and deep inside. We use a gas stove, so the wok heats up quickly and quickly, and when it gets hot, it stays hot for a long…

Wok material not suitable

On the one hand I can give this product 5 stars because it is exactly what is advertised: a cast iron wok. The quality and construction is excellent, just like any other Lodge pan. On the other hand, it deserves 1 star because Lodge really shouldn't have created this pan. Cast iron is not the best material for a wok. First, it's too heavy to lift and throw the roast with one hand, which is what you need. Second, cast iron retains heat very well, which comes in handy when you're cooking a steak.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • High price

It's like a forgotten religion

Iron has its own gravity, carries its place. We opened it up and saw it in all its transcendent simplicity, and our lives seemed to realign around a mysterious object from another world - as if the obelisk from 2001: A Space Odyssey suddenly appeared in our kitchen: the seed crystal to a deeper existence . You hold it by the handles and the story flows through you: huge hordes of people who rumbled across the steppes of Eurasia in the old world, the new world, when earthbending was first waged…

Art Wok (See what I made there?)

The two best things about this product are: A: It's cast iron and will last a long time if you take good care of it. (You're not going to put it in the dishwasher, are you?) Just spend five minutes after eating to wash it (no soap needed). dry (with a washcloth and then on the stove over low-medium heat) oil (cover lightly with a paper towel). B: It's a wok. That means you only use it for Chinese, right? NOT CORRECT. Use for anything and everything. Stir-frying? Of course. Fried potatoes for…

Great review/recipe included :)

As avid vegans we cook all our meals at home. Where we live there aren't many vegan options. This is a great addition for that purpose. heavy and without splash guard! We use the cover from the previous one. The lack of a lid would have led me to give it four stars instead of five (I think a lid should come with it for cost reasons) but I was aware of that before I bought it. Information to note: IT WILL RUST IF NOT PROPERLY CARE. Please read about leaving to save on your purchase and spend…

Use it on an electric Flat Top, an experienced cast iron user.

all reviews said that it is heavy and huge. I couldn't find any good smaller cast iron woks so decided on this one as I was expecting a monster wok! It's not a terrible size. I like it. I like that this is an American product. The lodge enjoys an excellent reputation. I have a flat top electric stove and I bought it because it said it could run on electricity. It gets a little warm and I put it on a large stove to keep the sides hot. It worked pretty well, although it might have gotten a little

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • low maintainability

The world's best home wok

Woks come in two main types: (1) thin carbon steel with a long handle, (2) heavy cast iron. The first Beijing-style wok is usually served in restaurants. It's all about the movement when you throw food with your wrist. However, unless you have a Chinese stovetop, a regular household burner won't get hot enough. Cast iron woks remain motionless. Let it preheat on a regular household burner for at least 5 minutes until it literally starts smoking. With proper curing, the food won't stick. I used…
