Description of LoveRPi PoE HAT Kit for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ with Sleek Black Case

ULTIMATE POWER OVER ETHERNET HAT FOR RASPBERRY PI 3 B+: Deliver clean and reliable power to the latest Pi 3 Model B+ by removing the problematic MicroUSB plug altogether! Power-over-Ethernet is both simple, power efficient, and cost effective compared to having multiple power adapters. BUILT FOR CLUSTER NODES: Simplify cable management and expand your on-premise cloud with POE! Power five, ten, twenty Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ boards through a single POE switch. This PoE HAT was designed to exceed the power delivery standards set by the official Raspberry Pi PoE HAT and other products available on the market. POWER OVER ETHERNET SWITCH REQUIRED: Network switch must be compliant with IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. PoE power output must be within the budget of the switch when powering multiple boards. PoE switch and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ sold separately. ANODIZED HEATSINK AND VENTILATED CASE WITH COOLING FAN INCLUDED: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ gets very hot and active cooling is the only way to prevent temperatures from exceeding 150°F! This kit includes everything you need to keep your PoE powered board operating at maximum performance. Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ sold separately!. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH RASPBERRY PI 4 OR RASPBERRY PI 3 MODEL B AND OLDER MODELS: Previous Raspberry Pi boards do not feature the onboard PoE header and will not be compatible with this device! Raspberry Pi 4 requires the newer HAT specifically for Raspberry Pi 4.

HDMI Ground Short

I bought 2 of these. 1. worked fine. The second popped up when I connected the monitor. PII still works, only the hat is burned. and the green light is too bright.

Pros
  • Superb design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Works great for my PoE Pi network camera

Works great! I like that it doesn't block the entire SBC like the official hat does. Doesn't overheat. Works great for me. However, it doesn't work that well with cases (but the hat's official shipment doesn't work either, so I don't care). Layered bags will need to be trimmed slightly to accommodate this hat. light enough.

avoid it if you don't wanna go blind

This otherwise very good product has a very annoying flaw. The power LED they put on this board could easily be used in a laser pointer or even a Star Wars blaster. If the LED light is so bright that you cannot see it for more than about 1 second, it means there is definitely something wrong with the product. If this is fixed in a future version it will be a 5 starter product. At the moment, for those who don't want to put it in an opaque case, this is unsuitable in my opinion.

Really good PoE solution for PoE enabled Raspberry Pi devices

Bought one of these to try and it worked great. It connects to the PoE header and pins 1-6 of the GPIO header. However, it does open the 3V, 5V, and GND pins on top of the PoE daughter board. The board is snug and doesn't rise above the height of other components on the board, so almost any case should work with it. Good quality board. You might want to use it with an opaque case as the LED is quite bright.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I'll add later

Damn easy to install and works great

My 3B+ (used for pi-hole) has had another 3rd party POE HAT for the past few years. It worked fine but I couldn't find a suitable case so I had to leave it open. Stumbled across this while looking for something different and decided to give it a try for $20. Works absolutely perfectly and it couldn't be easier to install. Removed the old HAT, installed the new one, plugged it into the case, plugged in the fan, plugged into the switch and it worked as expected. The only minor gripe is that the…

Works great, will be updated

Works great. Super easy installation. I carefully slid the PoE hat onto the main Pi board, attached a heatsink, connected the fan cables and off we went. The Pi will boot up once the Ethernet is connected to the PoE switch. When using a smart PoE switch, Raspberry Pies can be remotely rebooted by turning off the switch port. I really like the form factor of this PoE hat as it doesn't increase the height of the Pi and doesn't require any additional wiring. So far so good, I'll update when I have

It just worked!

Small and compact. plug and play Worked as expected. No problems after a few months on POE. I disconnect it from a Unifi 16port 150W POE switch. I use a modified Viaboot Premium case. I simply cut out all the internal plastic parts and my 3B+ and this POE hat fit with no problems. As some others have said, the power LED is unnecessarily bright. Even with this Pi setup's case, the light was so bright green that it was forcing green light out of every possible slot in the case. In my case the LED
