I also watched the Pump my filter video on YouTube and ordered it. I see some reviews that say black and blue are the same. However, mine are different, very slightly, of course, a medium, I'm not sure if you can see the difference in my photos, but with a magnifying glass I can definitely see the difference, it's a slight difference. I will continue to use the buffing pad on the top shelf of the basket as shown in the video. Not sure about other reviews, maybe there was a problem at some point

I bought this foam after seeing pondguru's "Flush My Filter" for fx6. His suggestion is to replace the large white coarse scum with coarse and medium pond scum glued together. Features three different strength filters and when covered with a buffing pad they fill one filter compartment of the canister fairly tightly but allows you to use the others for biological and chemical media such as charcoal . I used the measuring tray and intentionally made them a bit larger so they fit snugly. My canister is larger, so I was only able to take one set of these.
