Exactly what I was looking for. Wasn't interested in dimming the bedroom light but wanted a simple on/off light and fan slider, both working independently so you could sleep with the fan on.

I bought five pieces for two different houses. My wife is too small to reach the ceiling fan chains, she doesn't have to now. They're easy to hook up if you have an extra hot wire, usually red.

used the little switch on the bottom for the light a bit. But it works great. I've had it for several months now with no problems. Easy to install if you have the three wires required to install the fan. I had to get a new cable installed.

The exact same device hung on my wall for 17 years controlling fan speed and fan lights. The light part stopped working as if it had a short circuit so it had to be replaced. It is much better to control the fan with a wall box as in my experience the constant tugging on the fan switches is tedious and the fan switches don't last long. 17 years of operation! Highly recommended.

I had two of these in my last home and had no problems. About 5 1/2 years ago we moved to a new house and installed two NEW Lutron Skylark SFSQ-LF switches. One broke a year ago. Another one broke yesterday. What worries me the most (and the reason for only one star) is that in both cases the hissing and blinking of the light (when I turned on the light) led to a fear of electrical fire or shock.

Switch looks good and works well. My house was built in 1998 and had a fan/light switch and a switch that controlled fan speed. The instructions only concerned the connection of the on / off function and the speed function. I was able to figure out how to control the speed with this switch, but the on/off function is still controlled by another switch.

This is my third purchase. I installed the first one in my son's bedroom and we were very happy with his work. It's hard to find a combo switch that controls fan speed and lighting at the same time. Also, all of our light switches are light almond, making them unavailable in our area. The instructions are very clear and the installation was easy.
