Give Magellan another chance?

I was trying to update my Magellan Explorist 210 (discontinued model) with the latest firmware on the website. I erased everything on the device and ended up with a brick. I emailed Magellan asking what could be done. They responded quickly within 12 hours and placed an order to REPLACE this obsolete device WITH NO WARRANTY. Here's the amazing part, WITHIN 8 DAYS I received a replacement unit at my door, a Magellan Triton 300 (comparable to the Explorist 210). ). REPLACEMENT WAS FREE! So far I…

No maps, no software, no support.

The list of features looks great, but . too many spaces to be really useful (yet?). All adverts advertise the ability to download large detailed maps, but there are actually no current maps and Magellan support says "no information" about possible availability dates. The base map in the squad is very bad and the squad is really of little use until they release their program maps. Based on previous experience with them, the DVD will no doubt cost at least another $100. Also, none of the previous

Magellan Triton 300

I have owned this device for a long time and topo! Software also for California. I have updated the firmware for both the GPS unit and the Vantagepoint software. I don't work for Magellan or National Geographic. I connect the device to computers running XP and Vista. Initially yes, it took me some time to get used to operating the device with two programs (Topo! and VantagePoint). It wasn't until I got a firmware update for the GPS and a software update for the VantagePoint that everything went

Completely useless out of the box

Instead of going into the details of the two days I spent getting this piece of junk to work, I'll just outline a few of the many flaws that it Has . The included basemap is useless, provides no topographical information, and only shows major highways and roads in the United States. That means you should spend at least another $75 to $150 on usable maps from Magellan or National Geographic. Magellan does not make software that is fully compatible with Triton GPS navigators, so you will need to…

What a picture! on portable GPS devices

After 3 hours of frustration I couldn't load the map. In fact, I couldn't even get the TOPO NatGeo map in the right format to load onto the Triton 300. Neither the Magellan manual nor the NatGeo manual provide instructions on how to format the map for export to the device. Did I say export? ? The NatGeo TOPO software does not have a map export feature; It only exports waypoints, tracks etc. NatGeo TOPO is also disappointing. The quality of their cards is terrible. Support for Magellan products…

I prefer the Garmin Etrex Legend H to the Magellan Triton 300

I had a base model Garmin Etrex that I've been using for 10 years. I chose a newer model with a color display that could do area calculations. I bought a Magellan Triton 300. After I updated it to the latest OS from the Magellan website, it was able to do area calculations. I make a living from growing wheat and barley, and our family also goes horseback riding on mountain trails. Sometimes I need to measure smaller areas by the number of acres in them. I was so disappointed with the features…
