Worked where others couldn't

I wouldn't say it was the easiest tool but once hooked it held tight, it twisted the end of the tie rod, unlike "free". "Loaner tools I tried from Auto Zone. Was a salvation for me.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Great tool, suitable for hand tools

I used it on a 38.4mm internal binder and it worked well for both tightening and loosening. You do need to take a little care to ensure the flat piece is a good fit on the flat part of the nut before applying pressure, but this is a good alternative to more expensive tools.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Works as advertised

Removed inner tie rod end from a 2004 Dodge Caravan but if you have a brake rod it works even better as you need a little force to twist it to tighten it up, nice little ones compact tool, my goodness, my fancy tie rod removal tool kit.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Not suitable for large inner tie rods

Although the tool looks OK it will not work to replace the existing 42mm inner tie rod. This tool will not slip off the tie rod when you put it on the car and tighten it, so you can't remove the tool! Should not be advertised as being used for this application. It is of little use and is sent back.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Good cheap outlet.

Nice design idea. I have been using such hairpin removal tools for many years. The inner rod has always been difficult to remove and this key's profile fits all but the smallest of spaces and comes in a good range of sizes. I'm glad they're cheap because I'm sure I'll break them soon enough. For that price I keep the spares and consider them consumables.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

It worked! Best in Hand Tools

I purchased this item a month ago while waiting for a job on the front of my minivan which I have just finished. The product works without any problems on the left inner tie rod because the tie rod can be easily detached. However, on the right side, the tie rod did not break when the 30" hammer was used. So a 48 inch pipe was added to the pry bar and with little effort the tie rod snapped off. I've used a 1-10" extension, a 2-6" extension and a 1-3" extension to get clearance for a breaker to…

Worth a try if you're on the fence

I was skeptical when I first discovered this product but the rave reviews and low investment (not to mention fast shipping) made it worth trying the Nissan Maxima worthwhile internal tie rods. Tell you what, it's amazing! After burrowing into the terrain, he stayed until he was able to free himself. After that, it was almost impossible to reinstall the tool. There were some clearance issues with the anti-roll bar and lower arm, but these are minor issues related to how easy the ITR was to…

Well built but barely worked for my 2014 Ford Focus tie rods

I preferred this design to the U-bolt because it looked stronger, 1 drive /2" vs 3 had /8", and the overall profile was smaller (the area around the inner tie rod ball nut was very tight). It worked great on the left because the round nut was very rusty from water damage which allowed the ratchet teeth to snap. However, the right side was clean and the two flats on the round nut were only half the width of the pawl and the tool just wouldn't grip. I used my hand to chisel a level wider on one…
