🔧 Makita 01345 Impact XPS Boost Power Tool Review

Works as advertised. I've seen others mention that it doesn't fit their bits, but the item description specifically states that it is "ImpactXPS Power Bits 12 Point Bit Collar". And I've tried various 2" impact XPS bits and they all worked fine. The magnet is strong and will drill through up to a 3" screw without having to guide/hold it with your hand. But there is a slight hesitation. Game on the first drill. Other than the off-center wobble, I can't think of anything that wouldn't go with it.

Don't get me wrong these are great magnets and they seem strong , but WHY is Makita suddenly making them so damn proprietary for their own bitsets? The old green/black magnet bits easily fitted any screwdriver bit brand and were powerful too, but these new bits will only fit newer round body bits, not the original hex bits. If these bits were made to fit regular hex bits I would give them 5 stars but not for buying all Makita bits instead. I will not be buying these magnets again until they fix

Unlike their previous Mag Booster plastic which was fantastic this one is terrible. In fact, don't even bother. First, most bits don't even fit in. It doesn't have a standard hex shank hole but instead has 3 retainers in a fairly small hole. I'm struggling to find anything that even went through the retainers. Also, they don't hold long shots well. When they match, the center of gravity is shifted, and this causes terrible wobbling during movement. The detents only work on the shank, and long…
