Description of Buy the Makita B-35097 Impact Gold Ultra-Magnetic Torsion Insert Bit Holder!

Rare earth neodymium magnet is 2x stronger than magnets in standard insert bit holders. Xtreme torsion technology is engineered to allow the torsion section of the bit holder to flex under load, taking pressure off of the bit tip for increased durability in high torque applications. 2 piece design is engineered to allow the torsion technology to fully activate. High quality steel engineered for use with impact drivers. Designed exclusively for high torque impact drivers.

Don't waste money. The old shell holders are much better.

If I could give zero stars here I would. That blue plastic that contains the magnetic ring that holds the screw is too big. This will prevent you from getting into the gaps. Don't waste money. The old shell holders are much better. I've tried this with different brands of bits including Makita and it's just not worth the time and effort. The old sleeve type bit holder I was planning to replace with this one will be reused.

Simple, smart and very useful

Simple but smart. Actually very helpful. You remove the blue sleeve to insert the bit and then slide the sleeve back on, leaving about a quarter inch of the bit open, just enough to engage the screw and allow the magnetic ring in the sleeve to hold the screw in place and hold position. Of course you can also use an extension without a sleeve. Very well done. The main downside is that the hex holder is a bit smaller so it may take some force to get the bit in and out. I'm not sure if this was…

Holding the screw and controlling the countersink.

Works but not very well. I suppose it works for short drywall screws, but for 1" or longer it's pretty much useless. Here are the problems: Screwing costs only one star. Bits will fly out of the screw and damage the wood. Damaged wood is unacceptable. It will drift the screw under the surface until the bit starts to turn, the screw loosens and the bit wears out prematurely It doesn't allow you to see the depth and, even worse, removing the screw on the counter can't drown it's visible and is…

More trouble than good

This really does what it's supposed to do, which is to hold the screw better with a magnet. However, it doesn't hold well enough to drive the screw in without holding the screw. In addition, changing the bits is more tedious because the magnet sleeve has to be removed first. Another problem I have is that it's impossible to tell how deep you're driving the screw in since the magnetic clutch gets in the way. I think it would be theoretically possible to turn it until the ring makes contact with…

I've been using them for years. I'll keep them here when I find them again.

later and maybe use it 2014 or 2015. The retention they offer is like nothing else. I work low voltage and there have been times when I've J-hooked while standing on a no-go step on a ladder with my 8" extension, that job wouldn't get done in the same day without this bit holder would have been; I've never seen another that can drive a bolt with a 2" J hook dangling from it while moving at arm's length and not falling off. Many people have been amazed at how these things hold up at work…

I used the best bit holder of its kind

I find ratings with low stars that go up quite unfair. This is not a substitute for drilling pilot holes, you need self-tapping screws and you really should be drilling pilot holes in hardwood. Nor does it make up for the horrible types of screw drives that are prone to eccentricity and wear, such as traditional spline and cross drives, Pozidriv, Torx or Robertson, or even new Phillips Velocity drives, anything but old Phillips. Finally, overloading can be compensated for with impact wrench and

Saves time but has some limitations

I bought this bit holder to use in building a fishing pier on a small pond and this tool worked for me. Using this tool with a T25 bit in a 12V Bosch screwdriver, I installed nearly 400 screws (9 x 2-1/2 inches) holding the pine deck boards to the dock frame. The main benefit of this bit holder is the magnetic sleeve that holds each screw in place. To use the holder, it is first inserted into a hex collet (or chuck) on a screwdriver. The blue sleeve is then removed from the bit holder so that…
