Good affordable solution

I was pleasantly surprised at how well this worked on my racks. My only issue is that I had to use a hammer to drive in a few screws and I tighten them to the rack before loading anything just because they loosen a bit when moving. Kayaks and kayaks drive reliably. Easy to carry 2 kayaks. 2 boards carried with a paddle, stacked on top of each other, no problem.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

We'll be using this system on one kayak until we buy another. It was easy to install. The only confusing part was that the section holding the second kayak is not connected to the section holding the first kayak. The pictures here were misleading. I've been trying to figure out how to connect it. The instructions weren't clear on this part. I am very happy with my purchase. It's easy to use.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Hard to say

Great kayak holder! for accessories

Overall I really like this product, it keeps my kayaks in place very well when we are out and about and so far I have no regrets about this purchase. Because I can fold it up, I never take it out of the car unless I need to. I agree with the other reviewer that the build was a little tricky because some of the holes didn't line up, but I was able to put everything together so it's not a big deal. If I could say one thing I'd like to have, it's mounting rail kits, if that's what they're calledโ€ฆ

That's exactly what I wanted. Did the job.

Just what I needed, half the price of expensive items. Easy to assemble. Lots of straps and cables for two kayaks. Both drove for 4 hours at a speed of 80 miles per hour. I used stronger ratchet straps than the ones that came with the kit. The straps in the kit came loose at high speed. I basically wanted a rack so I'm fine with that. Edit: I thought the post was an inverted T, but it was an L with added support. It worked well, even better because one of my boats is bigger than the other. Iโ€ฆ

Well designed but poor quality control

Good design and very versatile but quality control was poor. We had to assemble some of the pre-assembled parts because they weren't assembled properly and the holes didn't line up for the screws. Also, one of the T-handles didn't have a real nut inside, so couldn't be used. I had to go to the store and find a nut that size. To be honest I expected more for the price. However, if these flaws were not there, I would be satisfied with the quality of materials and design.

Will NOT fit TracRac handlebars

Let me first say that overall I am very happy with all of the Malone products that I have had and use in the past their J-Folding kayak props on my TracRac now. These mounts appear to be well made, but they do not fit the TracRac handlebar and there is no way to adjust them to size - the spacing between pairs of mounting bolts is too narrow to fit. I was hoping Malone would find out and either change the design or at least let buyers know. I am very disappointed that I have to return it and try

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

NOT certified for SUP in roof racks

This rack says it is suitable for use with surfboards (SUPs) but it is not. So only read this review if you are planning to buy this product for your SUP. Their solution to the Malone Foldaway SUP is to fold it up and tie it on top. They give you two free pieces of styrofoam to attach your device. This is obviously an afterthought and marketing idea (which worked for me). This is exactly what you would do if you did NOT have this product. You simply tie it to the built-in stand (which youโ€ฆ

  • Cable is shorter than others
