Good tripod - comparable to larger model

I bought both this model and the larger one (Element Traveler Big) as there aren't many reviews and I figured a lighter tripod might work better. The biggest downside for me is that the smaller tripod (this review) doesn't have a detachable leg that converts into a monopod. Also, it doesn't fall very low to the ground. However, this tripod is very well made, just like its big brother. The legs are noticeably thinner and the ball head is also smaller, but the Arca-Swiss plate is the same size on

The tripod itself is good, not a fan of the normal ball head.

The tripod itself is good, I don't like the ball head, replaced it with Benro IB0. The tripod is light and small and easily holds my Canon 5D MIII on battery and any lens I attach, including my Tamron 70-200. The ball head moves well, but the Arca-Swiss mount is problematic. The hex screw that holds the mount on the ball is raised higher to prevent the camera from slipping out easily. You must unscrew the mount latch to remove the camera. This defeats the purpose of the Arca Swiss mount, which…

Rugged, portable, reliable

Unfortunately I now have 4 travel tripods. I finally have one with this one that won't fall apart or wobble in a light breeze. Slightly heavier than Superlights, but that's exactly what I needed. Fits in carry on, legs lock in well, solid overall, ballhead is acceptable although I've switched mine to a minimally light one. I removed a MePhoto tripod that fell apart at a critical moment with a very rare owl. It shaved off a few ounces and gave me a slightly better head. I think Manfrotto struck…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Overall, I really liked this tripod. It's easy to pull out of your pocket and quick to assemble. Likewise, disassembly is not difficult. Converting to a monopod takes no more than 45 seconds. I wish it was maybe a pound lighter but you get what you pay for - I'm happy with my decision. I preferred it to the Element Traveler Small because of the detachable monopod leg on this model and the more durable construction (although the small is also very well built). Pros: - Legs have enough tension to

Great tripod for the price, a bit heavy.

PROS: High quality installation, clean lines, good work of moving parts, free parts and tools included, nice bag included, nice and big, can be used as a monopod, separate camera and pan screws. CONS: One leg is shorter than the rest, a bit heavy. REVIEW: Need a bigger tripod to replace my cheap $20 model. Found this Manfrotto and am very satisfied. This is clearly a quality product and I have a feeling I'll be using it for the rest of my life (or until I lose it). Operating the twist locks and

Removable plate issues

I really wanted to love this tripod, I spent weeks researching, looking at several brands and weighing the pros and cons of each. One of the main reasons I chose this tripod was its maximum height it could reach considering I'm 6"1 tall and I didn't want to spend most of my time tilting too far and something small and compact to use. In any case, out of the box the tripod feels solid, heavier than I thought but still manageable. The legs feel solid and a bit of a hassle to fold but that's good…

Unbeatable Value in Camera & Photo

At $150, the Manfrotto Element tripod is the best value travel tripod you will find anywhere. from a well-known tripod manufacturer. In terms of functionality, it is very comparable to the Mefoto Globetrotter. And it's almost identical in performance, except Element is much lighter. Pros: - Very light. It's over 1lb lighter than the aluminum Mefoto Globetrotter and a few ounces lighter than the carbon fiber Globetrotter. (It is almost identical to those in all other specifications). This is…
