I wish I had known/imagined earlier to use this product instead of expensive filters! I have two 5 gallon (beta) tanks and a 55 gallon shared tank. A 5 gallon cartridge costs $2. I spent $4 on a filter pad that I could cut myself and will last me at least 5 months! Highly recommended if you want to save money and still have a quality filter mat for your aquarium.

This is the first time I have purchased this particular filter media. But I've been buying sticky filter media for a long time. Much simpler and easier to just buy big rolls and cut them to size. This material is of decent quality and cuts nicely. I put it in my tank this weekend and it does the job perfectly. Save money and buy this material in bulk.

I have been using this product successfully for over 20 years. It is called "coupled" because it consists of a base layer (blue) and a thin layer (white) of filter mat. It lasts a very long time and is an excellent mechanical filter that removes cloudy particles from the water. No comparison to the cheaper white polyester fiber sold as filter yarn.

After reading all the reviews, answering all questions and calling Revain and Marineland Technical Support, I could not find a thickness specification for this filter media. What was particularly amazing was the fact that Marineland Technical Support didn't even know the size of this product! So I measured it now for reference. I bought this product in place of the similar Top Fin product I was using. About a week later 2 of my guppies died. I checked my ammonia levels and to my dismay the ammonia levels were <7ppm - incredibly toxic. I did a big water change and lowered the level to 1ppm, bought Aqueon Ammo-Lock and SeaChem Stability to detox ammonia and recycle the tank.
