Easy to install into lifting legs

The posts on the tailgate of my Yukon XL weren't working very well so I decided to replace them. They were inexpensive and arrived on time. I didn't think the instructions were great, but there was a short video on YouTube that showed me how to do the swap. This is not a problem and they have been working fine ever since. Initially they were very stiff and difficult to close the hatch but over the last few months they have loosened up and are now working quite well. Nice spare part.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Security

Only lasted 6 months

So I bought this product in January 2018 for my Yukon 02 and when I put them on they were very durable but just last week I closed the trunk of my truck and one of them clicked I have no idea how this is even possible. Then when I tried to leave it on it didn't even stay on as I had another one plugged in which means this one also failed. Even trying to get a replacement for it didn't help. I swear I thought I saw the manufacturer's one year warranty so please remember this can happen, I hope…

Works great but beware of big buyers (updated)

Works very well, my ceiling grid was saggy and could hardly be kept upright, now it lifts completely when you pull the handle. Closing takes a lot more strength, but can still be done with one hand. As other reviews have said these posts are shorter than standard, I'm about 5ft 10" and can fit under an open gate without hitting my head, but if you are taller I recommend a longer post. Installation is very easy, use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the old clips, it takes 5 minutes. You may…

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • Useless Functions

Easy to fit, strong and no more sagging

My 2002 Suburban sunroof sagged, the old struts lost full mobility over the years. I started restoring the old Suburban to its former glory. After bumping my head too many times, I decided it was time to swap out the frames. The old jambs were easy to remove, just unscrew and twist the latches with a flat head screwdriver. The new ones just popped out with little effort. You may need a second person to hold the sunroof during installation. I made it myself, but an extra pair of hands wouldn't…

Pros

Be sure to buy them and save

Update 4 November 2019 Gave this item a half star. It worked great for a year and a few months. Then the strut seal broke or something happened that leaked all the oil. The item was only $20 so was my money's worth, but oil spilled on my Tahoe loading mat, bumper and a huge oil slick in the driveway. I am not happy with the oily mess and stains on my carpet. Just a note. I wish I could add more stars! The tailgate struts on my 01 Tahoe failed one after the other. I went to Autozone/Oreili and…

  • Very impressive
