I bought these because of the extra volume of the 45c tire. They don't fit so I'm disappointed. should have gone for panaracer 43c gravel tires which are bigger tires. They measure 41/42mm while my Panaracers measure 44mm on the same wheels. Typical for almost all Maxxis tires. They work less than most. I think I'm done with Maxxis. If you need 2.4 MTB tires, you'd better buy 2.6.

I got this because I mostly walk short distances through grass and wasteland. This tire has a so-called "Silk Shield", a laminate that runs the entire length of the tire and makes punctures more difficult. We have a real problem with sand spores here in Florida. Installed a Rambler 700 x 45c 60-ply on the front of my Specialized Sirrus X 4.0. When the 45c was installed, the Rambler was 42.1mm wide on my 21mm rims, but after a few rides it increased to 44.6mm. I run it with a tube and it installs easily with no mounting lever.
