McGard 24157 Chrome Cone Seat Wheel Locks: Secure Your 🔒 Wheels with this Set of 4 (M12 x 1.5 Thread Size) Review

I bought these to use on my 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring because LA cars stay on bricks. They fit well, won't unbalance the wheels, and most importantly, they're half the retail price and from the same manufacturer. They're a little longer than regular ones, but don't stick out over the edge.

The McGard website says these wheels are aftermarket only. They are suitable for 12mm x 1.5 thread pitch. But these and other wheellocks have 60-degree cone saddles. Dealer installed Honda wheel locks have what they call a "radius seat". McGard manufactures wheel locks with studs only with radius seats. I installed them because I didn't have half the original locks.

Fits well on the 2018 Mazda CX-5. Of course, this is a bit noticeable compared to other nuts, but it serves its purpose perfectly. I see no problem with the key. I was a little wary of buying it, but to get it for 1/3 the price of the manufacturer's branded version, that's a pocket saver at work. I don't see wheel stealing in my area, but it only takes one copy for someone to ruin your life. It's better to pay $20 for sanity than $500 for insanity, even if just one bike gets stolen.

These locks are certainly of high quality but Amazon is misleading in their description. I bought them for a 2015 4 cylinder TLX and didn't see a little text saying they might fit aftermarket wheels. They are the correct thread size and pitch, but the seat is not compatible with Acura OEM wheels. I purchased matching Acorn seat locks which are Acura branded but likely made by McGard. They are very good quality, I just think Amazon should have the right parts.

I have used McGard on many previous vehicles and they have worked flawlessly although I have to give 1 star here because I checked the Revain installation. I'm embarrassed I didn't check, but Revain should have taken that into account, they don't fit 2018 Tacoma wheels, the sizing and thread pitch are good, but the wheels don't have a tapered lug fit, they have a magnetic style with them straight shank and a washer. I'm lucky enough to be able to use them on another car so I won't be returning…

Needed to work on my son's 2013 Civic that had wheel locks installed. When inspecting the car, it turned out that the previous owner had not left a wrench in the glove box or in the trunk where the spare tire was located. Also, there was no guarantee that the wheel locks on his car were Honda. So I bought them instead. I carved a 12 head on the wheel locks, removed them and installed them. They look just like they do on the car and cost about 25% of what Honda would charge for original wheel…

I bought these for a 2014 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring. I lost the key to the original and didn't have a code to get a replacement. I had to use a slightly smaller head and a hammer to get the old ones off. Don't get mad about the hammer, or good luck making another one. The original ones don't have a small burr, are a bit shorter and look less chrome than these. However, the differences are not noticeable unless you look closely. These are wheel locks, they either work or they don't. The lack of 5 stars is because the recessed pattern for the lock key is already rusting as the chrome plating doesn't penetrate that space very well (I know this issue from work too) so red rust is visible on it. Do I buy them again for another car? Well I would buy, have bought 3 sets over the years and will buy them for the next car that speaks to you.
