I felt like leaning too far forward on my new Trek 820 and wanted to sit more upright. I've been arguing between this and replacing the handlebars with more lift and/or stem. I bought this to replace the original stem on my Cannondale Quick 1 and get a more upright riding position. As others have noted, this stem is very well made and I particularly liked the fact that the adjustment is on the top of the tube rather than the front. The adjustment actually has teeth that mesh when tightened, making it much better than a friction-based system. From the way it feels when pulled, I can't imagine it ever slipping off.
