Very versatile cutter

This is a handy little tool! I have to admit I didn't use it the way it was supposed to be used (in a drill press) but I used it in a hand drill and it did the job every time. I used it to cut a 3.5" hole in a plastic tank and it went through the material like a hot knife through butter. This hole was a bit more labor intensive than the reservoir as the cutter was able to grab the material and stop hard because I tilted the bit a bit. . I've never seen wear on an HSS cutter, but if it starts to

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Be sure to use a drill

This tool did the job I bought it for. I took off a star because it wasn't very sharp when it arrived, it unwinds because it's asymmetrical which means you have to use it in a drill press and it doesn't have a dial to set the cutting diameter, so you have to do it This is by eye and for testing. Since the hole I wanted was 5" in diameter, I set the cutter bar quite wide, and the extra radius to the cutter head causes even more unbalanced wobble. I was concerned that the wiggling might be enough

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

You don't need a drill for thin stuff like 5mm plastic

I used these with little difficulty, albeit SLOWLY, to cut a hole in the plastic cover of my PC's PSU so I could have one fan sized round opening, cover with a grill/mesh and use an intake fan on the bottom of the case to force more air into the case. As another reviewer noted, who also cuts through plastic, you might get lucky running him backwards as he wants to burrow and catch more as he moves forward (clockwise). In my case, I moved it forward until it started slicing (and grabbing), then…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
