Description of MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV 225/60 R17 103T winter

Michelin X-ICE SNOW - the ultimate winter tire The Michelin X-ICE SNOW series friction tires replace the popular studless tires of the previous generation, the X-Ice Xi3. This model was announced for the winter season 2020/2021 and is one of the latest developments of the French tire corporation. The first samples of these tires were successfully tested at the Finnish Test World, where the model was compared with the closest competitors from Continental, Nokian and other manufacturers. In a comparative test, not only new X Ice Snow tires were tested, but also two sets of worn ones: with a mileage of 10 thousand km and with a 4 mm tread remaining. This model received the best marks in most tests, and even tires with wear took prizes. Model Features When modeling the running surface of the Michelin X Ice Snow friction tire, engineers partly used the design of the previous Xi3 tire. The pattern of the base model has been significantly redesigned: In the X-ICE SNOW tire, the central ribs consist of separated macroblocks, while in the previous model the blocks were connected by narrow rubber bridges. For better drainage of water and snow porridge, engineers increased the width of the interblock drainage grooves, and also modified their geometric shape. This made it possible to improve the driving performance of tires on wet surfaces. This model uses tread blocks with a more complex geometry. The number of sharp edges and cutting edges has increased significantly, at the same time, the traction and grip properties of the tires have also improved. X Ice Snow tires were equipped with two types of sipes at once. On the blocks of the central ribs there are curvilinear slots, while in the shoulder areas there are straight lamellas. Internal locks provided in their 3-dimensional structure significantly limit the mobility of the cutting edges, thereby reducing the deformation of the macroblocks during acceleration and deceleration. Flex-Ice compoundThe winter tires of this series use a unique rubber compound with a high content of silica. The use of Flex-Ice technology made it possible to significantly improve the tenacity of tires on ice and snow. The grip properties of the wheels are maintained at an optimal level even at critical sub-zero temperatures. This makes the Michelin X-ICE SNOW tires the most suitable for the harsh Scandinavian climate.

Just super, the product is made wonderfully, very satisfied.

The best winter tires I've ever drove are these. Everything is fine, including wet and dry roads, deep snow, and frost. Not the slightest possibility of slipping or skidding existed. In February 2022, I drove them with stops at all the landmarks from Hong Kong to Apatity and returned.

Pros
  • At any speed, perfect grip, softness, and complete silence.

Good product for me, no problems at all.

As of today, I have only just purchased it, therefore this review will be updated accordingly. The decision was quite challenging for me because I had used nothing but Nokian studs for the entirety of my riding career, beginning with the very first model. In addition, I do not have any prior expertise working with friction tires. So. Mercedes GLK, most of my travel is within the city of St. Petersburg, and I also do some driving in the surrounding area. I had a choice between this rubber and…

Pros
  • Smooth, unobtrusive, and relaxing motion. When contrasted to the sensation of riding on a tire with studs, this one is rather unique. It's a little bit calmer than summer, but not by much. The tire is lighter overall in my size R17 compared to the Continental 7. A perfect equilibrium.
Cons
  • The rubber hasn't been broken in yet. After 60 kilometers per hour, there is a faint howl, and as the speed increases, the howl increases as well. However, the pitch of the howl will rise in proportion to the increase in speed. The pitch of the howl drops as the car begins to slow down. Slow response when turning the steering wheel on dry pavement at a speed of +10. During the process of installing new tires, we had to use an explosive booster to pump up two wheels. Soft side. When contrasted to the studded Nokian, there is discernible hydroplaning.

Matches the description completely, very satisfied.

Has some pros: Soft, quiet, confidently keeps at a speed of 140+, generally satisfied and recommend! With its cons: At plus 10 and above it floats, but that was to be expected. And in the rain, as in my personal opinion it swims up, you have to be careful in the puddles.
