My Son Stole Mine: Kitchen & Dining

Well I was looking for my vegetable grater and found that my son adopted it. mmmmmm. If I had known it was worth $$$$$ I would have bought him another one but his mom let him take it. So now we have a new one. saves my hands from chopping all the veggies or breaking the food processor. if you only have one that's all /// can also be done quickly with ginger

Best grater I've ever used

Most graters are very useful given their competition. The blades are very sharp and are good for soft and hard cheeses and all the vegetables I've used. I use the largest holes the most. For finer cuts I use a special microplane grater. Like all graters, it is difficult to clean. It will definitely cut through all the sponges and brushes you use, even on the inside. Most cleaning occurs perpendicular to the cut surface. Some soft cheese may stick to the inside, so extra care must be taken when…

Disappointed with the quality

Edit to update: definitely not what I would expect for the price or the brand. Not only did the plastic part of the drawer break, but the entire top of the plastic case broke. The quality is definitely disappointing. After using this grater for less than a year with proper care, the plastic piece holding the bottom drawer broke off, allowing the drawer to slide in and out at all times. I'm disappointed that a company like Microplane, where they pay a high price for quality, would allow this to…

Easy to rub!: kitchen and dining room

I have a lot of micro graters. I like them all, but most have a curved surface. This box has straight panels. Hopefully it will work as well as the individual graters or even better. I think it's a little easier to rub because it's easy to hold. A straight surface is better in my opinion. The fact that you can leave the bars inside is a plus. Every time I grated parmesan or other hard cheese on a plate with separate graters, some of the cheese ended up on the table or right on the floor. So the

Is mine just broken?

Based on the existing reviews I have a feeling that the grater I received must be defective. It's practically useless for two main reasons: 1. The biggest surface with the biggest holes just doesn't work - like the blades aren't at the right angle or something, because when I try to rub something it just slides across the surface of the blades with little to no damage. Today I tried to grate some parmesan (the main reason I wanted this grater) and I had to resort to thinner surfaces because I…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Definitely an improvement over the previous version The quality of your cooked food knows Microplane makes better cheese graters. I have a couple of flat, rectangular microplane graters that I probably use more than the cell grater, but for dishes with a large pile of cheese the cell grater is just right, so it has many uses. TWO old versions are already several years old. About halfway through the life of one of them, the blade popped out. At that point, this new version hadn't come out yet…
