My truck has this type of connector but one of my trailers had a 4 pin connector so I had to use an adapter. When the headlights stopped working on one side I decided to replace them with the ones used on the other trailers. I chose this one because it had a nice long cord so I could install it out of sight. As others have mentioned, don't try to match wire colors when replacing a 4-pin connector with this 7-pin connector. Just look at the very clear instructions and wire them like this.

Disgusting product. First let me say that the product quality is excellent. Plug, cable, junction box. Everything is very well done.But! They don't use the universal trailer wiring color scheme. (Green-right. Yellow-left. Brown taillights etc. etc.). Often when building trailers I would just wire this straight up without looking at the instructions and get very confused as to why my lights were all going bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of this junction/junction box. The screw terminals are color coded wires and easy to connect. 3 holes for new wiring (in addition to the factory wiring for the lanyard to the tractor) allow for easy access to my trailer. Holes for cables allow water to enter the junction box. In this price range I really can't ask for more from the manufacturer. This is easily solved with black silicone sealant in the grommets. I am very happy with my purchase!

Replaced the schematic junction box on my old weekend warrior with this box. Quite easy. It takes some thought to get all the wires to the right length so it doesn't look like a spaghetti bowl on the inside and the wires actually fit as they are a bit tight (the box could still be 1/2 inch wider to help with the cables record, tape). This cord is only 7ft 1in long. The compartment for this wiring on my 5th wheel is off center and I already pulled out my 7ft cable with a single twist. slightly longer cable. I like the backbox more than most other options. I used adhesive butt connectors and adhesive heat shrink tubing to splice another 4 feet of wire to this wire and then covered the splices with shrink wrap. It's a simple setup, and simple enough that it includes additional lighting and accessories (a 12-volt diaphragm pump set up for home laundry).
