High SWR, too little time to tune

Does not fit Jeep. This antenna design requires a decent sized ground plane and is best placed in the center of a car roof or in a large trunk. The best SWR I could get was 1.88:1. Midland says this antenna is already tuned so its length has been shortened for a convenient ground point. Not enough time to tune in by cutting out of the box. I will try Larsen NMO450CHW instead.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Disappointing antenna

The GMRS antenna must operate in the 462-469MHz band. This is not. After trying different mounting locations, the SWR ranged from 2.01 to 2.78. To make matters worse, the analyzer shows the minimum SWR was above 470MHz - AFTER extending the pin as much as possible. (should be at 465.5 MHz) This antenna is too short. If Midland would make it even an inch longer, it could be trimmed to perfection. Instead, they have a short stick. If you need a decent GMRS antenna, look elsewhere.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Not tuned to GMRS and terrible customer service from Midland

The antenna has an SWR of 1.94 - 2.45, they are trimmed at the factory so cannot be further tuned. Should be about 1 cm longer. Update - Rating downgraded to 1 star. When I installed the product with ALL MIDLAND ACCESSORIES (rg58u cable, NMO mount) it was outside the Amazon returns window, Midland customer service refused to answer the issue with anything other than "your floor is not enough". when I replied "I have a 4AWG wire with solid copper lugs connecting the NMO ground to the frame and…

Хорошая антенна - Радиоантенны

У меня есть Midland Mxt 115, из которого я могу поймать ретранслятор почти в 40 милях от меня, и у меня также есть Mxt 400, и я могу полностью общаться с людьми через этот ретранслятор, that's all. all with an antenna installed in my living room. This antenna is even more powerful than the antenna recommended for the B-Tech 50x2. I'm just a beginner but if it works, it works. Midland seems to have done some homework there with the antenna they plug into those radios. My house is like sitting in

Works better than expected

I bought one of these when I bought the MXT275 for my car and was so impressed with the performance that I bought another to set up an nmo ground plane for my base station . Between the receive and transmit options, I have no complaints, except perhaps for the option for chrome. Also, thanks to this antenna, I was able to pick up a repeater 50 miles away at 15 watts. Mobile devices seem to like magnetic mounts. I already have a tan magazine holder on the car and replaced the old tan on it with…

Pros
  • Good product for the price

This antenna was supplied by Revain so I don't know if this antenna was returned by another customer who may have cut the antenna too short and then sent it back. If so, it looks like he wasn't circumcised. The case could mean that Midland is making these antennas from a third-party manufacturer. If this is the case, Midland will need to carry out an in-depth inspection of their antennas to determine if the antennas meet specifications. I've attached a graph of Frequency vs Voltage to Standing…
