Beautiful bats, well done!

I originally bought these to thread thin steel for a DIY project and they worked great. Since then I've started with a tap, just drill through and even knock on wood with no problem. I would recommend going with a slow speed drill if attempting this on wood as they cut so easily it's easy to get aggressive and burn the threads into the substrate. The shank and threads are just as sharp and clean as the first day I got them and I've used them over a dozen times. Excellent and highly recommended

Although I just didn't think using a screw would give me the holding power I needed. I found them online and tried a few cuts first. My method was to drill a small hole first, then use a tap and just go in. I removed the drill bit and used a small wrench to slowly unscrew the tap. I was afraid I might clean up the hole by…

I used this combination drill bit to drill and cut a hole in an aluminum mountain bike dropout for a disc brake adapter bracket. Once I made a mark on where the center of the hole would be, I punched it in the center and started with some coolant and a small pilot hole drill. I then switched to a slightly larger drill to widen the hole even further. Finally, using a combination drill in a cordless drill and some coolant, I slowly drilled and tapped the hole. To avoid damaging the threads when…
