I just received a pack of 5 of these filters and four of the five had internal rattling. Without an internal filter cartridge permanently attached to the outlet, all fuel can simply take the path of least resistance and bypass the filter element entirely! In this scenario, the user never knows what's going on and the engine doesn't get any protection. If you have them, just try shaking them a little and see if the element rattles at all.
