Hopefully one day this will stop shedding. It has slowed down but is still shedding loose strands of wool. Don't use the beater attachment on the vacuum cleaner - it beats the carpet too hard. Made in China.

Had high hopes for this rug based on the positive reviews but was simply disappointed. #1 It immediately starts to burn and melt when coals fall on it, and when that happens it stinks. #2 He sheds like crazy. Small fibers everywhere. Base #3 is not slippery at all so it wanders all over the place. There is nothing about this rug that you might like.

We've just bought a new wood stove and haven't decided on a stone or fireplace cushion yet, so basically we just have a concrete floor and a rug. Buying a stove mat was recommended (by the installers) as a good safe option while we're using the wood stove this winter.
