The first 3 or 4 pencils were sharpened to a really nice sharpness. I was about to order a second one to take to work. Then I tried sharpening a few more and now it breaks every pencil I try to sharpen with it. It also became more difficult to turn, as if it had become blunt. I went through most of a brand new Blackwing Natural to sharpen. He just kept cutting the leash. I thought it might be pencils, but Staedler is really good at sharpening.

Great! The grenade's shape is easily held by the knurled handle and it sharpens perfectly every time, be it HB or 2B or any other type of lead. The size is perfect; if it were a little smaller, it would be too difficult to understand. The weight and shape, solid brass body and spare blade (buy the 9866B blade kit) make the purchase of a lifetime. I have several other brass German sharpeners and they are all Keepers. But this is my everyday, reliable, convenient and inexpensive sharpener.

I bought this product so I could have something small in my tool bag to sharpen a pencil when I was at work and needed to sketch or mark something exactly. As an illustrator and artist, I would like to say that a sharpener is not always a sharpener. I've always heard these ballpoint sharpeners are the best you can get. This is a really great pencil sharpener at a rather high price. But if you're serious about your pencils and how to sharpen them, you might very well be. I don't mean to be pejorative, but if you can't use this point successfully, you don't need to practice with it a bit more or it's too good a tool for your purposes.
