Well I did it with a heat gun but I still wouldn't recommend it for more than 24 cat 5e. They're good and cheap but only because the seller (Monoprice) replied to a question about 23 AWG and said it would fit, which it doesn't - I can only give 3 stars as these are fake ones advertising.

I have paired this product with Monoprice Cat6 (Purple) and it looks great. The ladies in the office where I installed it absolutely love it. Mixing and matching cable and shoe colors can make the system look more expensive than it actually is. I recommend this to everyone. It's soft and holds cables well. However, you should use a thicker cable. It won't look right on this very thin thing. If only I could find Hyper Green Boots!

It's a washed out green that looks like turquoise, that was kind of a disappointment, maybe that was the batch that was shipped. I really think I paid extra for the green color. I often run my network cables outdoors, so I often break off the RJ 45/48 connectors and swap out the plugs. These boots cover the latch plate and prevent breakage when removing and retrieving the cable. A very efficient and cheap solution. The plastic is a little stiff, which I need. If the connector is recessed even slightly, it will be much more difficult to push the latch down through the trunk to disengage the connector. Not critical, but something to consider when choosing.
